The Arc of McLennan County
- Mission:
- "expanding opportunities, care, and support for persons and families impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities."
- Volunteer Duties:
- Help with the after-school program, which offers care and activities for children and young adults with developmental disabilities, by reading to children, playing games and just having fun with participants.
- Volunteer Requirements:
- Volunteers must fill out an application at The Arc office and pass a background check.
- Training:
- All necessary training is provided on-site.
- Time Commitment:
- The after-school program is from 3-5:30 p.m. each school day.
- Group Volunteering:
- Groups may volunteer together.
- Recommended For:
- Students in the fields of health, human services and education, as well as other majors
- Benefits:
- Volunteers gain hands-on experience in a number of fields, while meeting and forming positive relationships with new people and doing activities that they already enjoy.
